The prominent film activity organization Chitra Samooha that is committed to lot of good work honored the first cameraman of the country V.K.Murthy who got the Dada Saheb Phalke award recently at Suchitra Film Society in Bangalore on Sunday evening. It was a standing ovation for the veteran Kannadiga from Mysore for the prestigious award he was bestowed upon.

At the same evening Chitra Samooha also honored the three national award winners – P Seshadri and AS Gopal for ‘Vimukthi’ (best regional film), Shivadwaj and Durganand for ‘Gaggara’ (best regional Tulu film) , Abhay Simha and Shylaja Nag for ‘Gubbachchigalu’ (best children film) film producer and director.

The Phalke award for V.K.Murthy is ‘Amrutha Varshada Vara’ and I envy all the three colleagues for their effort and to the commitment in cinema lauded Chairman of Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy TS Nagabharana. The secretary of Kannada and culture Jayaramaraje Urs agreed to the point that the quality art films should get separate theatres for screening. That is also point of ‘Cinema Neethi’ that is coming up he pointed.

Subrato Mitra and VK Murthy from Satyajith Ray and Gurudut films respectively have made foundation for the Indian cinematographers pointed prominent cameraman Bhasker. He read the letter sent by Sunny Joseph on this occasion.

Dr Chandrasekhara Kambara who honored V.K.Murthy on this occasion recalled the ‘Kagaz Ke Phool’ and said for him still the best is Black and White films as it gives complete depth. I am excited in honoring VK Murthy said Dr Kambara. On the inquiries he attends in the foreign countries about Girish Kasaravalli Dr Kambara pointed that is a pride moment for him. Drawing his attention on the need of screening halls for art and off beat films Dr Kambara said it is my right to ask such things from the government. You give crores to the temple and why not a few crores for theatres construction he stated.

Girish Kasaravalli the golden man of Karnataka cinema industry was also on the dais.
